Healthy Food Recipes: Stuffed Clams
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Additional Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Servings: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 12 fresh clams, shucked (reserve the shells)
- 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Steps to Cook:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, olive oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Arrange the reserved clam shells on a baking sheet. Carefully spoon the breadcrumb mixture into each shell, dividing it evenly among the 12 shells.
- Bake the stuffed clams in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the clams are cooked through.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the stuffed clams cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
Cook’s Note:
- For best results, use fresh, plump clams that are still alive when you purchase them. Avoid any clams that are cracked or have a strong fishy odor.
- To shuck the clams, use a sharp knife or a clam knife to carefully pry open the shells, leaving the bottom shell intact to hold the clam meat.
- If you prefer a creamier texture, you can add a tablespoon of softened butter to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Serve the stuffed clams warm, garnished with additional chopped parsley if desired. Enjoy!
