Grilled Swiss Cheese Sandwiches with Dijon-Honey Spread

  • 8 slices of sourdough or whole-grain bread
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper

Steps to Cook:

  1. Gather and prepare the ingredients:

    • Slice the bread and cheese.
    • Soften the butter.
    • Prepare the Dijon mustard and honey mixture.
  2. Make the Dijon-honey spread:

    • In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and honey. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Assemble the sandwiches:

    • Spread the Dijon-honey mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
    • Place a slice of Swiss cheese on the Dijon-honey side of four of the bread slices.
    • Top the cheese with the remaining four slices of bread, creating four sandwich halves.
  4. Cook the sandwiches:

    • Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Spread the softened butter on the outer sides of the sandwich halves.
    • Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet or griddle and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  5. Finish and serve:

    • Once the sandwiches are cooked, remove them from the heat and let them rest for 2-3 minutes.
