Baked Clam Stuffing

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Additional Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Servings: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh clams, shucked and chopped (or 1 can (6.5 oz) minced clams, drained)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Steps to Cook:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped clams (or drained canned clams), panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, melted butter, onion, celery, parsley, lemon juice, garlic powder, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well mixed.

  3. Season the clam stuffing mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. Prepare a baking dish or a shallow casserole dish by lightly greasing it with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

  5. Spoon the clam stuffing mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

  6. Bake the clam stuffing in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  7. Remove the baked clam stuffing from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Cook’s Note:

  • For a richer flavor, you can sauté the onions and celery in a bit of butter or olive oil before adding them to the stuffing mixture.
  • If you prefer a creamier texture, you can add a small amount of heavy cream or half-and-half to the stuffing mixture.
  • To make this recipe more substantial, you can serve the baked clam stuffing as a main dish, accompanied by a fresh salad or roasted vegetables.
  • Leftover baked clam stuffing can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • For a more elegant presentation, you can bake the stuffing in individual ramekins or hollowed-out clam shells.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your desired level of spiciness.
